Here are some simple things you can do to drive traffic to your blog. Growing your blog traffic takes time and hard work, so make sure that you are in it for the long haul.
Write good, shareable content.
The first and most important thing is to write good, easy-to-follow content that makes people want to share. That way, when people come to your site, they will be more likely to stay a while, subscribe or come back for another visit.
Comment on other blogs.
Visit other blogs and really take time to read and take in their words. If something speaks to you or helps you, leave a comment. Sometimes, the author will comment back or visit your blog.
List your blog URL everywhere you can.
Make sure your blog is listed in your social media and message board profiles. You can also get listed in blog and web directories.
Share your blog and posts.
Share your blog posts on Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest and any other social media site that is relevant to your industry. If you can, share your blog with your friends, too. You can instantly gain traffic to your blog just by telling your friends about it.
Collaborate with another blog.
Most bloggers nowadays are willing to collaborate. Check Facebook groups and approach your blogger friends about collaborating on a project.
Share other people’s content.
Sharing other people’s content is my favorite way of generating blog traffic. Most bloggers are just like you — they want more blog traffic and they feel validated when other people share their content. So why not pay it forward? You’ll share good content with your followers/readers and show appreciation for other people’s work at the same time.
Talk to other people on social media, join a Facebook group, join a local blogging Meetup, join a local organization — these are all ways you can socialize with other people in your industry and draw traffic to your blog.
You can pay low prices for advertising on other blogs and social media sites like Facebook and Twitter.
SEO optimize your blog and posts.
SEO, paired with content marketing, is very powerful when used correctly. You can bring traffic to your blog and reach people that you never could have, otherwise.
Host a giveaway.
People love free stuff! Host a giveaway for something that your readers would like; bonus points if it’s something they could really use.
